The key to future-proofing education is to empower students to not only think, but to apply their thinking in relevant ways to demonstrate what has been learned. Whether you call this rigorous, deeper, personalized, or just plain learning is of no concern to me. Semantics aside, the goal of all schools should be to equip students with the appropriate knowledge, skills, mindset, and behaviors to help them develop into competent learners.
