History According to ChatGPT: a Critical Analysis Exercise

In the fall of 2023, I asked my History of Sciences and Technology students to use ChatGPT for a summative evaluation, highlighting the tool’s limitations. I believe technology should complement but not replace the pedagogical experience, as it cannot deeply study or provide reliable sources for historical subjects. The exercise aimed to demystify AI and emphasize the importance of critical thinking for future historians.
